Polyakylene Glycols-W type-High Viscosity

High Viscosity

  • good water solubility,
  • inverse solubility at very high temperatures (resulting in excellent lubrication in aqueous fluids)
  • highly polar polymer chain that ensures a high affinity to metal surfaces.
  • exceptional lubricating properties excellent thermo-oxidative stability
  • applications far above 200 °C

Product information

Polyakylenglycole Typ W are produced from statistical addition of a blend containing normally 75% Ethylene oxide and 25% propylene oxide to an initiator (water).

The products are characterised by

  • water solubility,
  • inverse solubility at very high temperatures (giving rise to excellent lubrication in aqueous fluids)
  • a highly polar polymer chain, which provides for high affinity to metal surfaces.

As a result Polyalkylene glycols possess exceptional lubricating properties.  The products have excellent thermo-oxidative stability which is enhanced further by appropriate choice of antioxidants, allowing applications well in excess of 200 °C.

These can be tailored to specific customer needs.

Although soluble in water, not all applications are water based;

Application, for example,

in textile lubricants,

  • water based hydraulic fluids,
  • gear and bearing oils, metal-working fluids,
  • compressor lubricants for hydrocarbon gases,
  • release agents for rubber,
  • incidental food contact lubricants
  • heat transfer oils.
